This listing is for a gorgeous Victorian scrap book/ album filled with various pieces of ephemera from the turn of the century. Although deteriorated, the cover is elaborate and ornate with heavy gold embossing and the image of a small child. The spine of this piece is in a state of deterioration causing some of the pages to separate from the rest of the piece. This album has been well loved and heavily handled through the years and there are many small sections of damage across the front and back covers. Inside, the pages--though yellowed from time and delicate--are intact and filled with many small illustrations, trade cards and advertising materials from the late 1800's/ early 1900's. The arrangement of the pictures is very thoughtful and one can tell from a glance that many hours were dedicated to filling this book. There is a small handwritten inscription on the inside cover dating the item to Christmas 1894. Regardless of the damage, this album is a beauty and a wonderful example of the Victorian pastime of scrapbooking.
