Beautiful 12 card set of Victorian calendar pages for the year 1872. This calendar is complete with all the months accounted for. Distributed by the Home Insurance Co., out of New York City, each card is illustrated with a scene from the season and bordered in gold.
These cards are quite old and show their age. Jan, Feb and Nov all have tears and small section missing, while the rest of the calendar has varying degrees of tearing and weathering. October has a crease running through the center and has been repaired. There is also a pencil drawn picture of a horse on the backside. The fact that this calendar survives at all is amazing. The piece displays beautifully, each page illustrated with elaborate, colorful lithos.
